It took a while to find a storage bed that had an enclosed storage space. Most storage beds have allow hair and dust to fall into the storage area, which makes the space less than desirable. We bought the Reed Upholstered Storage bed in King, as an upgrade to our old Queen sized bed and what a great purchase. The platform which the mattress sits atop of is solid and seals the storage area to prevent dust and dander from falling in. The only complaint is the delivery and assembly. We were scheduled for a delivery window of 1-4 pm. I had asked my sister to come help me with our old bed at 11am to prepare for the delivery. When I received a call at 10:20 am from the delivery driver saying they’d be here in 20 minutes, I said “okay”. When they got here, they proceeded to bring the King bed pieces upstairs and in the process, put two chips on the wall, and scuffed the stairs. They then complained the old bed was still there. I made the additional mistake of offering a nice gratuity to move my bed to the garage. More on this later. When I told them they chipped the wall and scuffed a stair, they shrugged it off. Not wanting to argue (they still needed to assemble the new bed), I let it go. When Scandinavian Designs called me a few days later for feedback, I told them about the incident. They told me someone would get back to me. The owner of the delivery company called me on a rampage. I couldn’t get a word in, nor explain the facts to him that his delivery people arrived way ahead of schedule. When I was finally able to explain, he told me it’s all my fault for not moving the bed. This call really took away from our satisfaction and the total experience. It’s a real shame because the furniture is top notch. The delivery and the attitude from the delivery company will make us think twice before revisiting the store to buy anything.

This bed is so unique and so cheaply priced for what you get- there is no better. Instead of crappy drawers that get in the way, the entire top part lifts up to reveal alllllll storage space space. I mean you could stuff 8 bodies in there, not that you would. We keep blankets and extra pillows… uh huh.

The bed is a nice quality and looks great in our room. The storage is really the thing that validates the price. Assembly is an all day affair so plan accordingly. My only complaint is that the format that allows the bed to hinge up to access the storage space means that the mattress sits on a flat pallet-like surface, rather than fitting into a frame with any sort of edge or overlap. This makes it easy for the mattress to get pushed off-center and the very edges of the mattress (despite being the correct size) don't feel supported when sitting on the mattress edge. One other heads up: the storage platform will not close unless the mattress is on it. the hydraulics require substantial weight to function. This is clearly by design but caught us off guard and would have been helpful to know during assembly and when trying to allow a boxed mattress to inflate on the frame.

We bought this for the storage. Indeed, the storage in the bed is ample. The bed is also made of solid wood but the biggest and the only flaw is that it does not close as it is designed to. Further, it poses a safety hazard as once the person is off the bed, the bed storage automatically lifts itself up even with the mattress on it. Imagine a person coming to their bed to sleep from a restroom visit only to land inside the storage space. The company has no support for this as they rely on the defective part to be shipped from some location in Asia. We have had this for over 7 months now and only one technician has showed who told us the company will get someone to fix it. We have not heard since then. Their only response is that you can return it without realizing that we had our old furniture sold away the hopes of getting this one. It also takes time out from your regular work routine even if they were to return it.
